Goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín will leave Club América to fight for a spot in the UEFA Champions League with the Dragons.

All info coming in from Mexico and Portugal was proven as true today, as América and FC Porto have reached an agreement to see Agustín Marchesín joining the Portuguese side. The Argentine goalkeeper will fulfill his dream of playing for a European team, with his mind set on reaching the UEFA Champions League while being a regular in Sergio Conceicao's lineup.

Marchesín, an Argentine international, leaves the azulcrema side after winning a league title, a cup trophy and the Campeón de Campeones tournament, where he played a key role by scoring the game-winning penalty. "Marche" will join the Dragons with one main objective: to become a suitable heir to Iker Casillas defending Porto's net.

The Mexican club took it to social media to reveal Marchesín's transfer to Porto. No details on the amount paid by the Dragons or the length of the deal were revealed.

Moments later, the shot-stopper bid farewell to Las Águilas with an emotional post on Instagram.

"Two and a half years filled with work and passion, which showed me how to defend this jersey with my life, because not winning a title here means failure. We won three titles together. Playing for this team was the biggest blessing of my career. I always said that defending this colors was the chance of a lifetime,  and I tried to show that in every game and in every training session. I don't know how to say goodbye and to thank you guys, I can't explain how happy I was to play for this team, and the sadness I feel for saying goodbye right now. All I ask from God is to allow our paths to become one again. Thanks to the execs for trusting me, and to the fans. What can I say about you? You show us every day why this is Mexico's greatest team, I will never forget you."

"Last, but not least, goodbye to my teammates. I fell in love with this group, please keep defending this jersey with your soul, this is a unique badge to play for. I know that playing for Porto is a great opportunity, and I can understand if you are mad for me leaving, so I won't dare to ask for your forgiveness. It will be really complicated to say goodbye to this team, because when I left Lanús I knew I had to do it, but this time, fate wants me to grow, and it is all thanks to you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Sincerely, your friend, Agustín Marchesin."

The footballer played 130 games for Las Águilas, keeping a clean sheet in 50 of those games. Marchesín leaves with the Argentinean National Team on his mind, since playing in Europe could pave the way for becoming the team's No. 1 goalie in years to come, even if he has only been able to play four games with La Albiceleste.
