The former Rojiblancos defender could be making a sensational switch to the MLS.

Former Atletico Madrid fullback Juanfran Torres is a subject of transfer interest for Chicago Fire, according to ESPN. The 34-year-old defender is said to be in talks with the MLS club ahead of a potential move this summer.

For almost a decade, Juanfran Torres plied his trade with Diego Simeone's Atletico side and was integral to the success enjoyed by the team during that period. Following the expiration of his contract after the 2018/2019 season, the Real Madrid academy product departed from Wanda Metropolitano after seven trophies and 355 appearances under his belt.

In his free agency, the Spanish right back has been linked with moves to a host of top clubs in both North America and South America. However, ESPN claims that Chicago Fire has emerged as frontrunners in the player's pursuit by commencing talks.

While Juanfran has not yet made a decision on his future, the prospect of him joining Chicago Fire is expected to be boosted significantly having reportedly spoken on phone with former Atletico Madrid player and head coach of Fire Veljko Paunovic. The club is believed to be offering a two-year contract for a 34-year-old amid competition from Brazilian sides Sao Paulo and Corinthians.

The former has also proposed a two-year deal in a bid to secure the service of the rightback and the club's head coach Rai has also been rigorously trying to persuade Juanfran to move to South America. Realtively, Nashville SC is also believed to be keen on the defender's signing.
