The Croatian boss was quite outspoken when discussing his desire to lure the player away from Etihad Stadium.

Usually, the world of football is dominated by the bold, by those who speak their mind disregarding the consequences of their actions. Today, one of those outspoken members of the football family had to apologize to prevent a problem for his team.

Last week, coach Niko Kovac spoke in detail about the possibility of hiring Leroy Sané, who's currently under contract at Manchester City. The problem for Kovac lies on the fact that Bayern's bosses were not satisfied with his words, since Manchester City could accuse them of trying to lure a player away from them without their consent, something that FIFA execs frown upon.

With that in mind, Kovac decided to apologize to Pep Guardiola and Bayern to prevent any further damage, as stated by the coach himself.

"I called Pep (Guardiola) and I apologized to him. I also want to apologize to his club. I will hold back on cases such as this one in the near future," Kovac said.

The former Croatian player admitted that president Karl Heinz Rummenigge and Sports Director Hasan Salihamidzic urged him to issue the aforementioned apology to avoid being sanctioned by FIFA and by the club itself.

"I have been urged and warned by the club about this, I can't go around talking about players that are currently under contract with other clubs," Kovac added.

Pep Guardiola has been quite adamant about his desire to keep Leroy Sané around, but if the player wants to leave Manchester City, he will not stand in the way. As of now, negotiations seem to be ongoing between both clubs, but we will not be getting news on this matter -especially from Kovac- until a deal is struck.
