The Red Devils could seal the transfer of the English defender in the coming days.

Manchester United has made significant progress in talks with Leicester City for the signing of Harry Maguire. The 26-year-old English defender is reportedly close to joining the Red Devils after a breakthrough was made in negotiations on Monday.

Maguire has been a priority signing for Manchester United this summer as the club aims to bolster its defense. Talks have been ongoing for months now with Leicester City holding out a transfer fee that would make the former Hull City player the most expensive defender in the history of football.

On Monday, the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio reported that new contacts have been made and the two Premier League clubs aim to find total agreement for the transfer of Harry Maguire. The player is already in favor of a move to Old Trafford and desperately waiting for a positive result in the coming days.

Speculations of the England international's imminent exit were even intensified when he failed to turn up to Leicester City's Monday training session. It was subsequently revealed that the player had been suffering with an illness and, as a result, phoned in to stay at home.

Should the deal be completed in the coming days, Harry Maguire will becoming Manchester United's third signing this summer after Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. A few more players are also believed to be nearing a switch to Old Trafford and the likes of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Bruno Fernandes, as well as Paulo Dybala have all been linked with moves.
