The German playmaker may not be doing so well on the pitch...but how about away from it?

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil may have been deemed surplus to Unai Emery's requirements, but that doesn't mean that he will let anyone make fun of the Gunners...or himself.

In the past couple of days, a Tottenham Hotspur fan tried to mock Özil for no particular reason, and the German footballer hit back in stylish fashion.

The tweet by Spurs' supporter was meant to mock Özil for his resemblance to one of Tottenham's players, and even if he mentioned the German ace, he was not "brave" enough to tag him in his post. Eventually, Özil got word of this attempt to mock him and hit back with a cheeky reply.

In just three hours, Özil's tweet gathered over 175,000 likes, which was also used by a fan to mock Tottenham and the reaction sparked by their record signing, Tanguy Ndombelé.

Özil's future with the London-based club is still uncertain, since the German ace has fallen down Unai Emery's pecking order. Earlier this month, Fenerbahce denied any interest in signing the footballer, who is yet to hand in an offer that would see him leave the Gunners. With that in mind, the playmaker will most likely have to wait until the end of the summer transfer window to solve his future.
