2019 International Champions Cup: How to watch Real Madrid vs Arsenal live on July 23, 2019

July 23, 2019 By Ali M.
Los Blancos and the Gunners will lock horns in the International Champions Cup. Check out our preview for more info on this exciting showdown.

What is the form of Real Madrid compared to Arsenal?

Real Madrid are currently on a three-game losing run. This run stretches back to the end of last season, with Los Blancos suffering defeats in their final two Spanish Primera Division fixtures last term. They then began their pre-season with a 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup.

Arsenal's 2018/19 season ended in heartbreak, with the Gunners losing 4-1 to Chelsea in the Europa League final. They are unbeaten in the pre-season, winning every single game they have played in the USA. Their last two triumphs came against Bayern Munich and Fiorentina.

Arsenal vs Real Madrid head-to-head record?

Despite being a club of higher prestige, Real Madrid are yet to win a game against the north London giants. However, it should be noted that they have faced each other only twice and that was in a two-legged Champions League clash. After recording a famous 1-0 win at Bernabeu thanks to a solo Thierry Henry goal, Arsenal held the Spanish giants to a goalless draw in the return leg.

Team news

For Real Madrid, all eyes will be on Eden Hazard. However, Zinedine Zidane's main focus will be on improving his men's fitness and chemistry rather than winning the game. As a result, the Belgian superstar might start off the bench.

Takefusa Kubo, Luka Jovic, and Ferland Mendy, who were also brought in over the summer, made their debuts in the recent defeat to Bayern Munich and are expected to feature once more. The same cannot be said for Gareth Bale, despite Zidane claiming he might feature, as he is all but out the door.

Emery, meanwhile, has also given his big names minutes. With the season kick-off growing closer, it's important to have the likes of Lacazette, Aubameyang, and Ozil fit and ready to start. However, the ones who have shined during the pre-season are the youngsters, namely Nketiah and new signing Gabriel Martinelli who has shown promise.
