Pep phones Neymar over possible transfer

Guardiola has reportedly phoned Neymar over potential Man City transfer

July 20, 2019 By Ali M.
The Spanish tactician even made one promise to the Brazilian should he decide to join the Citizens.

Barcelona have heavily been linked with a move for wantaway Brazilian superstar Neymar. However, the Spanish giants could face competition from England, with rumors emerging that Man City have thrown their hat into the race.

This is according to Don Balon. They write that Les Parisiens do not want to see the Selecao superstar back at Camp Nou and have thus offered the world's most expensive player to other European giants. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Man Utd feature on this list of clubs.

While none of those aforementioned teams have made concrete offers for the 27-year-old, Man City have reportedly made a move. The article states that Pep Guardiola has reached out to the unhappy Brazilian in an attempt to lure him to the Etihad Stadium.

According to them, the Spanish tactician made a phone call to Neymar and promises to also bring Dani Alves to Manchester if he agrees to join the Citizens. This means the former Santos sensation would be joined by the right-back, a close friend and a free agent.

Don Balon also explains how the Premier League champions plan to finance this move. The report states that they would offer PSG $224M plus contract rebel Leroy Sane, who they prefer to see join Les Parisiens over Bayern Munich, in exchange for their highest-paid player.

The addition of Neymar would drastically improve their odds of winning the Champions League, something they have failed to do for three straight seasons under Guardiola. However, there are several issues which make it almost impossible for Man City to land the Selecao attacker.

Firstly, with UEFA closely investigating the Citizens over their finances and with a Champions League ban lurking, it is hard to believe the club will splash $224M on a single player. Additionally, Neymar's own preference should be weighed in and at the moment, it leans towards a reunion with Messi at Barcelona.
