Los Colchoneros had already announced Kieran Trippier's signing on Tuesday, but everyone in the press room was surprised by the arrival of Mario Hermoso.

Atlético was able to keep a signing close to their chest in the social media era, with fans and experts being shocked by the news in equal terms.

When members of the media were getting ready to watch Kieran Trippier's first words as an Atlético Madrid player, the red and white side shocked everyone in the press room by unveiling Mario Hermoso as well.

The two defenders complete a talented backline for the Spanish side, with Hermoso preferring the role of center back and Trippier filling the void left by Juanfran at right back.

Trippier was the first one to speak in this out-of-the-ordinary presser. The former Tottenham player was glad to make the switch to the Spanish top flight, which will help him make a personal dream come true.

"It's a great opportunity for me. I have wanted to play in La Liga for quite a while. I'm thankful for the opportunity and I will give my best to succeed," Trippier said. "Now, I want to learn Spanish as fast as possible to make things easier for me and my family," the footballer added.

Trippier signed a three-year deal with Los Colchoneros.

Moments later, center back Mario Hermoso made his way to the stage. The former Espanyol footballer will try to satisfy Atlético fans, even if he spent his first seasons as a footballer at Real Madrid's academy.

"Ever since I knew there was a chance to play here, I never had a doubt in my mind. I am thrilled to be here and I'm ready to work," Hermoso said. "About my past, you simply can't erase it. I just want to be a better player and earn the fans' respect on the pitch," the footballer added.

Hermoso joins the red-and-white side for the next five seasons.

With these signings, Atlético Madrid might just put an end to their activity in the summer transfer window. The team has added eight new players to their roster, which will surely given them an opportunity to battle once more for the title in the Spanish top flight.
