With only one signing having been completed so far, the Gunners boss looked to reassure the worried fans.

Arsenal have been in the press for all the wrong reasons but Unai Emery has come out to offer reassuring updates to fans aggravated by the lack of transfers at the club.

Despite their disappointing end to the campaign, the Gunners' only addition so far has been Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli. Things are made worse by the fact that the club lost four senior players over the summer and will likely bid farewell to club captain Laurent Koscielny after an ugly falling out which resulted in the defender refusing to report for pre-season duty.

This resulted in Arsenal fans launching a #WeCareDoYou campaign calling for owner Stan Kroenke to back the club with investment but Emery insists that he is working hard with the board and the American billionaire to bring quality recruitments.

Speaking to reporters, the Spanish tactician insisted that they are working hard to sign three to four established players to complement the up-and-coming talents at the club. Talking ahead of the International Champions Cup clash with Bayern Munich, the gaffer said (as per the Sun):

“Our target is to get three or four players who really improve our squad.

“We are being very demanding about the possibility to sign very expensive players.

“We have very good young players who can progress but we need others to come here to help us.

“We are having a lot of meetings with the club, with Edu and also with Josh and Stan Kroenke in Denver.

“We have a clear idea and that is to sign the players in the positions we need who can help us with big performances.

“We start with our first target and if we cannot achieve that we move on to the second target. But every time it is someone who will improve the squad.”

A host of names have been linked with the Emirates Stadium side such as Wilfried Zaha, William Saliba, Kieran Tierney, and Dani Ceballos. From those aforementioned names, Saliba and Tierney appear to be the closest deals despite recent complications.

Ceballos has recently been tipped with a season-long loan move to north London as Real Madrid are not willing to let go of the talented midfielder yet. As for Zaha, Crystal Palace are yet to receive a bid matching the Eagles high valuation.
