The Gunners have been offered the deal by Los Blancos, but they will have to work hard to land the American footballer.

Arsenal's low transfer budget has limited their options to add new players, but even when footballers are offered to the North London side, their chances of signing them seem to fade away.

Yesterday, reports from Spain suggested that Real Madrid got on the phone to discuss a potential deal including striker Mariano Díaz. Los Blancos have slapped a $22.5M transfer tag on the footballer, which seems like an appealing offer for Arsenal. Unfortunately for them, there's a major catch in Real Madrid's offer, according to a report by The Mirror.

The 25-year-old, who re-joined the Spanish giants last season after a successful stint at Lyon, does not seem eager to join the English side, despite being told to be surplus to the team's requirements. Tottenham has also shown interest in signing Mariano, but the player seems determined to stay put at the Bernabeu.

Díaz only played 18 games this season, scoring three goals in all comps, with most of those games coming in the end of the campaign.

The Dominican striker is not the only player to be tempted by Arsenal this summer, as Lucas Vázquez has also been linked to a move to Emirates Stadium. Unfortunately, that deal seems to be far from happening, since Arsenal is yet to match Real Madrid's asking price for the footballer.

So, there you have it. When Arsenal wants to buy, they simply can't come up with the money, and when they are offered an interesting player, the footballer is not interested in playing for them. Let's see if the summer transfer window brings better news for the Gunners in the upcoming weeks.
