The French star has been linked with a move away from Les Parisiens for the better part of the summer, with Real Madrid being his potential destination.

Just when PSG fans thought that Neymar's transfer saga would be the only one they would have to worry about in the summer transfer window, newly-appointed Sports Director Leonardo has cast a shadow of a doubt regarding the amount of time Kylian Mbappé will keep playing for the French capital giants.

Speaking in another interview with Le Parisien, Leonardo admitted that while he may be thinking about Mbappé's extended stay at Parc Des Princes, he is in no position of making any assumptions, which includes a possible contract extension for the superstar.

"I don't like to make promises because of two reasons. First off, I am not the one that calls all the shots within the club. The other reason has to do with the fact that I don't like to make promises if I am not sure I will be able to keep them. All I am interested in doing is to live on a day-to-day basis," Leonardo said.

Leonardo admitted that, even if PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi wants to be sure Mbappé will not leave the club in the near future, the only thing that everyone has to remember is that the 20-year-old star is still under contract and can do wonders by himself to reach greatness with the club.

"It is not a question of looking at Mbappé's extension as a priority. Mbappé is here, he is a key member of the team and there is no debate. He made it back to the team's training sessions with a great energy and with a smile. It is really important to have a player like him around," Leonardo added.

Leonardo's words seem to be a dig at Neymar, who has repeatedly been named as the reason for many controversies inside PSG's locker room, something that is not the case with Mbappé.

"Kylian is a charismatic guy. People here love him very much. Added to that, he is very skillful, agile, quick, he can hit the ball with both legs and he is smart. He has it all," Leonardo concluded.

Mbappé seems ready to lead PSG in the immediate future, especially if Neymar leaves the club. Will he respond to claims urging him to sign a contract extension?
