The player's agent has suggested that initial contacts have been made for the footballer to leave Old Trafford this summer.

La Liga champions Barcelona were interested in signing Matthijs De Ligt this summer, but given that the footballer seems set to join Juventus, Los Blaugranas have apparently started working on Plan B.

The Blaugrana side has seen Thomas Vermaelen leave the club this summer, but Samuel Umtiti's future with the club can't be assured, which has forced the Catalan giants to search for suitable options to boost their defense.

One of those options is none other than Victor Lindelof, who according to his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has been contacted by the Blaugrana side.

"Lindelof is in the orbit of a great European club," Cetinkaya stated in an interview.

The agent hinted that Lindelof's departure would pave the way for Harry Maguire's arrival, but Manchester United does not seem ready to see Lindelof leaving the club, since he played a key role for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his first months at the helm.

"It is not up to him to join the Spanish club, it depends on Manchester United," Cetinkaya added.

Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not want to add uncertainty to his team, since Paul Pogba, Alexis Sánchez, David De Gea and Romelu Lukaku have all been tempted to leave the club this summer. Adding Lindelof's name to that list would create an even bigger problem for the Norwegian tactician.

Lindelof is currently in Australia as part of Manchester United's pre-season squad. He arrived to the English club as a direct request from Jose Mourinho, and only time will tell if he is set to join the Catalan giants this summer after 47 games with the Red Devils.
