The Italian tactician refused to admit any contacts with the Colombian, but tried to keep fans at ease over a potential bid for the playmaker.

James Rodriguez's future seems to be far away from Real Madrid, but one of his potential suitors does not seem to be ready to battle for his transfer.

Speaking at a press conference, Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti gave an update on the Colombian's possible arrival to the Partenopei. Unfortunately for Napoli fans, "Carletto" did not have positive words to share, as he remains dubious about the Italian team's chances of signing him.

"James is a player which I know very well, he gives every team he plays for an edge. Unfortunately, James is not a Napoli player yet, and he may never be one. When he gets here, we will be able to talk about his skills," Ancelotti stated.

The veteran coach hinted that his reasons not to talk about the player's possible transfer have to do with the amount of respect he has for his current team, mainly because he would not like to see other coaches speaking about some of his players.

"If a coach from another team spoke about a Napoli player, I would not be happy. We have to be open for options, and we have to look at all the opportunities to sign players in the current transfer window," Ancelotti said.

During the past few weeks, James Rodríguez has been linked to Napoli and Atlético Madrid. According to reports from Spain, Real Madrid is keen on selling the footballer to the Italian outfit, but Los Colchoneros are James' preferred destination. With the footballer being one of the most interesting free agents out there, it will surely become a bidding war between the aforementioned teams and any last-minute suitors.
