The malfunction across the social media platform has resulted in the Blues holding off the confirmation of the new manager's appointment.

Chelsea's big reveal of Frank Lampard as the club's new manager has reportedly been rescheduled amid what seems to be global outage of popular social media platforms Facebook and Instagram.

After weeks of talks and speculations, latest reports confirmed that the former Blues midfielder is set for a return to Stamford Bridge. This followed news of the London club agreeing to buy him out of his current deal with Derby County having almost led the latter to promotion to the English Premier League last season.

According to the Daily Mail, Lampard is set to sign a three-year contract where he will earn £4 million annually plus performance-tied incentives which could push the figure beyond £5 million.

All indications currently point at the 41-year-old manager being at the helms of affairs when most of the first-team players return to start pre-season training on Friday. However, his official unveiling which was scheduled for Wednesday did not come off with both Facebook and Instagram down.

Users in parts of Europe, US, South America, Africa, and Asian all took to Twitter to share their grievances about not being able to download and view videos on the two social media platforms as well as the Facebook owned chatting app, WhatsApp.

As a result, Chelsea, who has in the excess of 17.4 million followers on Instagram and 48 million fans on Facebook, has opted to hold back the official announcement.
