The Brazilian defender is spending his time off in his home country after being snubbed from playing in the 2019 Copa América.

It was all sunshine and rainbows for Marcelo during his Brazilian holday, until he had a run-in with local authorities.

The Brazilian footballer, who was snubbed by Tite from playing the 2019 Copa América, has been spending some time off in his country. Nevertheless, he might have had a bit more fun than expected during a late night out in Rio de Janeiro, where he refused to take a breathalyzer test in a drink-driving checkpoint located in Lagoa.

It is unknown if Marcelo was above the legal alcohol limit or not, but according to O Globo's report, Marcelo preferred to pay a €675 fine (around $761) to be excused from taking the test.

What the Brazilian footballer did not take under consideration was that Brazilian transit authorities would seize his driver's license, which will forbid him from driving in his home country until July 2020.

This is not the first incident of the sort for Marcelo, who was booked by Spanish transit authorities in 2013 after ignoring a yield sign. A thorough investigation revealed that the Brazilian star was not allowed to drive in Spain, since he had accumulated several penalty points.
