Zidane may be thinking to offload one or two attacking players, but not one of his Spanish footballers.

Zinedine Zidane's planned overhaul at Real Madrid is currently focused on selling players, and while negotiations are still in place to land one -or two- midfielders, the French boss has taken matters into his own hands to let one of his players know that his spot in the squad is safe.

Reports by the Express suggested that Zizou was keen on adding Sadio Mané to his squad, especially since the Senegal ace was a major transfer target before he left the club one year ago. The English journal added that a swap deal between Liverpool and Los Blancos was set to take place, with Marco Asensio being tipped to join the Reds.

Today, according to Marca, Zidane had a conversation with the Spanish ace to assure him that there is no negotiation whatsoever that will see him leave the club this summer.

Zidane is a fan of Asensio's skills, especially since Asensio rose to stardom under the French boss. Despite falling down the pecking order, Asensio is still being considered for a major role with Los Blancos, with other players such as Bale, Isco, or even Lucas Vázquez edging closer to the exit door.

The Spanish newspaper states that Zidane's main focus now is to seal one of the alternatives to boost the team's midfield. Paul Pogba, Donny Van de Beek and Christian Eriksen are the preferred options, in that order, to land a spot in Los Blancos' squad for the 2019-20 season, but it seems that any of these deals will be revealed deeper into the summer transfer window.
