What is the form of England compared to USA ahead of this epic showdown?

England boast a perfect record at the FIFA Women's World Cup, but the USA boast a similar record. In their last 12 games in all competitions, the Three Lionesses have lost only twice, drawing once and winning the remaining nine, including two of their three 2019 SheBelieves Cup.

As for USWNT, they are unbeaten since mid-January. Their 3-1 loss to France in a friendly was their last loss and since then, the Stars and Stripes have embarked on a 14-game and counting unbeaten run. Furthermore, they head into this tie with an 11-game winning streak.

How did they make the semis?

England's knockout stage campaign has been pretty forward. They met Cameroon in the round of 16 and dispatched them with ease, as expected, winning 3-0 amid tons of drama. Next came Norway and while the Scandinavians were tipped to be a tougher opposition, the Three Lionesses won by an identical scoreline.

The title holders have endured a tougher knockout stage path. Both their round of 16 and quarter-final games ended in 2-1 wins. First Spain frustrated the U.S., as they needed two penalties to edge out the Europeans. Next was France and the hosts came close to fighting back from two goals down but came up short. Rapinoe was the hero on both occasions, scoring a brace in each of those games.

Team news

Both sides do not have new major concerns ahead of this last-four clash. Steph Houghton and Millie Bright had been doubts prior to the win over Norway, but after playing the entire 90 minutes in the 3-0 quarter-final victory, those doubts have disappeared.

This game could well be a final. England and USA have been two of the favorites from the get-go and now the two will battle it out for a spot in the final.

Both sides would probably have liked to avoid each other. The USA are the defending champions and having scored 22 times so far while conceding only twice, they appear to be as strong as ever. The Three Lionesses, on the other hand, continue to prove themselves among the world's elite and look to follow up on their 2019 SheBelieves Cup success by lifting this title.

First, though, they must get past Rapinoe and Co. This should be a tough tie and while there is no safe bet, the odds will likely favor the defending champions due to their form and history in this competition.
