The Dutch center back has been the talk of the month with his move away from Ajax, which has raised criticism from several footballers.

The stance taken by Matthijs De Ligt and his agent, Mino Raiola, has raised a few doubts on his real motivations to play football. While some understand that playing football is not a lengthy career, which forces you to search for a better deal, there are some who believe that playing the beautiful game is not always about the money.

One of those who believe in the second approach is former player Christophe Dugarry, who slammed De Ligt in an interview with RMC Sport. There, Dugarry analyzed how De Ligt's decision might not be the best choice for him, especially when he seems to be thinking only about money.

"What is the idea? What is happening in your head? 12, 13, 14 or 15 million euros? At some point, what changes? You will have one more car, 50m² more in the apartment, 10 meters more for your boat. If it is a purely financial option, I stop, that makes me want to throw up," Dugarry said.

Dugarry scored the first goal for France in the 1998 World Cup.

The former Milan and Barcelona ace even gave De Ligt an advice regarding which team he should join, whether it is this year or at some point in his career.

"De Ligt, at one time or another, commit yourself to a project with PSG. Even you have started not to commit to this project and to think of two doors ( the entrance and the exit)," Dugarry concluded.
