Diego Forlán would like to see the Frenchman staying with Atlético, but he remains doubtful on the benefit that will bring to Los Colchoneros on the long run.

With all the transfer rumors surrounding Neymar and his alleged deal to Barcelona, there have been no more words written about Antoine Griezmann's possible move to Camp Nou.

With that in mind, a friend of Griezmann and former Atlético footballer, Diego Forlán, urged the Frenchman to make a statement on his future, even if that means he will stay put with Los Colchoneros.

Speaking in his capacity as La Liga ambassador in New York, Forlán admitted that Griezmann has to be considered as one of the greatest players ever to wear Atléti's jersey, but his desire to leave might come back and haunt him if he ends up staying put.

"No one can question Griezmann's skills, but if he stated his desire to leave and he ends up staying, it will not be a good environment for him, for the fans and for his team-mates. Either way, you have to acknowledge his legacy as a top-notch striker," Forlán said.

The former Villarreal and Uruguay striker referred to what should be an interesting season for Atlético fans, given the rumored transfers in and out of the club.

"This summer transfer window will bring a lot of changes to the club, but the team's best players will remain there. We have reason to believe in a good year, since the players being named as reinforcements are really talented," Forlán added.
