The Benfica starlet's move to La Liga is all but confirmed.

Portuguese Primera club Benfica has issued a statement confirming the agreement with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Joao Felix. The 19-year-old sensation is set to join Los Rojiblancos for a club-record fee of 126 million euros.

Joao Felix was one of Benfica's star performers in the 2018/2019 campaign as the Eagles endured tough competition to win the Portuguese league title. In his breakthrough season, the teenage sensation scored 15 goals in 26 league games - a feat that deservedly earned him a call-up to feature in Portugal's successful UEFA Nations League quest.

Felix emerged as one of the hottest prospects on the radar of top European clubs including Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Juventus. However, it was Atletico Madrid who became eventual frontrunners after triggering the starlet's release clause, having identified him as the potential successor of the departing Antoine Griezmann.

Los Rojiblancos are yet to release a statement in accordance to Joao Felix's imminent switch although he is expected to complete his medical in the coming days. The teenager is set to become the fifth most expensive player of all-time after Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.
