David Silva to leave Man City in 2020

David Silva announces he will leave Man City at the end of next season

June 26, 2019 By Ali M.
The Spaniard revealed that the upcoming campaign will be his 10th and last at the Etihad Stadium.

Next season will be the end of an era for David Silva at Man City. The Spaniard announced that the upcoming 2019-20 campaign will be his 10th and final season with the Citizens, calling an end to an illustrious spell in the Premier League.

The midfield maestro made the move to the Etihad from Valencia back in 2010. He, alongside the likes of Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure, sparked the club's rise to the top of English football.

Since arriving, Silva has led the club 10 titles, four of which were the Premier League trophy. As a result, he is regarded as one of the finest playmakers to have graced the English top-flight in recent years but his time entertaining Mancunians will come to an end in 2020 when his contract expires.

"This is the last one," he told the Daily Mail. "Ten years for me is enough. It’s the perfect time.

"Initially the club were talking about two years, but I decided to sign another one so I finished at 10 years.

"It completes the cycle. It’s a nice round figure. I can never see myself playing against City for another team. So 10 years — that’s it!"

The Spaniard later added: "I’ve got a family now and it’s about priorities. I want to spend more time with the family. I’ve got another year at Manchester City so we will see what happens after that."

When asked about his next destination, the midfielder ruled out two possibilities: another Premier League club and a move to China. "Not China," he said. "I don’t know. My girlfriend decides for me!

The maestro has made 396 appearances for the Citizens and will look to add to his tally of 71 goals and 129 assists in his final season. He played a crucial role in their back-to-back title wins under Guardiola and the Man City legend will continue splitting apart defenses with his excellent vision for one last campaign.
