Mendy likes tweet calling for Lucas' deportation

Real Madrid signing Mendy explains why he liked tweet calling for Lucas' deportation

June 24, 2019 By Ali M.
The Frenchman found himself in a sticky situation early on in life at the Bernabeu.

Ferland Mendy is one of Real Madrid's latest summer signings, joining the club in what has so far been a busy transfer window. However, the Frenchman found himself in a sticky situation after liking a tweet that called for the deportation of a team-mate.

That man is none other than Lucas Vazquez, who was born in northern Spain. Despite the content of this tweet, the newly-signed left-back left a thumbs up but has now offered an explanation as to why that occurred.

This tweet was directly sent to the former Lyon man and the player blindly liked it, assuming it to have been a positive remark about his new team-mate. After finding out the true message, Mendy quickly took to Twitter to explain things over.

The player revealed that he did not understand the message and vowed to learn Spanish as quickly as possible. He wrote on social media: "I had not understood what the tweet phrase meant. I am going to learn Spanish quickly so that this does not happen again. HALA MADRID!!!"

The 24-year-old completed his Santiago Bernabeu switch in a $62.4M move. He put pen to paper on a five-year contract and was unveiled at Los Blancos last week.
