How to watch France vs Brazil

2019 FIFA Women's World Cup: How to watch France vs Brazil live on June 23, 2019

June 22, 2019 By Ali M.
The hosts will lock horns with the South American giants in the highly-anticipated round of 16 clash. Check out our match preview for more info.

What is the form of France compared to Brazil?

France will enter this tie with a perfect record so far. The hosts did not drop a single point in the group stage and will now take on Brazil as a result. The French women are currently on an eight-game winning streak and will hope to make it nine straight victories.

As for Brazil, they enter this clash on the back of an atrocious form. Yes, the South Americans have won two of their three group-stage games, but those were their only two victories in their last 12 games, losing all the other 10 games.

Team news

The FIFA Women's World Cup might have ended early for Andressa Alves as she has been ruled out of the remainder with a thigh injury, but the same can't be said about Marta and Formiga. Both have been nursing injuries but they have trained and are expected to be fit.

As for the hosts, they have no concerns. Wendie Renard is their top scorer thanks to her brace in the opening game and the winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Nigeria.

Preview

This is one of the most anticipated round of 16 showdowns. Brazil, a veteran of the FIFA Women's Wolrd Cup, led by six-time Women's Player of the Year Marta, will take on a France side proving that they can impress on the grand stage.

The hosts began the tournament in fashion, putting four past Korea Republic to send out a message: we mean business. However, since that huge victory, things have slowed down for Les Bleues. They finished Group A with a perfect record but their last two games, which were against Norway and Nigeria, saw them win by a one-goal margin only.

Brazil have their own issues as well. They beat Italy 1-0 in their final group-stage game but only barely, as a controversial penalty saw them clinch all three points. Only two players have scored more goals at France 2019 than Cristiane with her four strikes, while Marta's career and achievements speak for themselves.

However, the odds don't back As Canarinhas. The French are the favorites and should Brazil not reach their best, their wait for a FIFA Women's World Cup title will likely continue.
