The two countryman with the shared goal of winning the title might also battle it out to finish as top scorer.

Kick off for the 2019 Copa America is here. The CONMEBOL continental competition will commence today, on Friday, as some of the biggest nations gear up to do battle for this trophy.

On top of that, some of the biggest names in football will headline the tournament. The likes of Messi, Coutinho, James Rodriguez, Luis Suarez, and Edinson Cavani will take center stage. While the goal for those players will be to lift the title, each attacker will want to get his hands on the Golden Boot and two candidates for that prize are the aforementioned Uruguayan duo.

The Barcelona and PSG superstars enjoy an excellent partnership when donning their national team colors. Their chemisty has reaped benefits for La Albiceleste and it could bring a certain prize to one man's trophy cabinet.

Suarez is Uruguay's all-time leading goalscorer with 56 goals from 107 caps and has a point to prove after his disappointing 2018/19 campaign. He finished behind only Messi in the goalscoring chart in La Liga but his tally in all competitions last season was only 25, netting only once in the Champions League. Hence he was blamed for most of the team's shortcomings in Europe.

For Uruguay, Luis has always delivered. At the 2018 World Cup, Tabarez's men reached the quarter-final, with the 32-year-old contributing to three goals in his five appearances (two goals and one assist).

Cavani, on the other hand, scored 23 goals for PSG in all competitions last term, 18 of which came in Ligue 1. It was not the best of campaigns for the former Napoli ace, but injuries and a certain man named Mbappe restricted him to only 20 starts in the French top-flight.

At Russia 2018, El Matador averaged nearly a goal per game, scoring three times in his four games, including a brace against Portugal in the round of 16 before being injured. This means Uruguay's two forwards combined for scored a combined 48 goals.

As mentioned earlier, there will be stiff competition for the Golden Boot. Messi has never won this prize in the Copa America but he was at his usual best all season and will look to continue that form. Aguero enjoyed a stellar campaign with Man City while Duvan Zapata lit up Serie A. While Suarez and Cavani cannot both finish as top scorer,  the odds of one of them winning it are high. Time will reveal if they will.
