The Portuguese midfielder has addressed the state of affairs amid recent transfer links.

Sporting CP skipper Bruno Fernandes has finally responded to speculations of his impending move away from his Portuguese Primeira side. According to recent reports, the 24-year-old midfielder is on the verge of sealing a transfer to Manchester United after his side accepted a massive £62 million ($78.7 million) offer from the English Premier League outfit.

An impressive season with his Lisbon-based club saw Fernandes finishing the campaign with 29 goals and 17 assists. As a result, his rapid rise has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs of which Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, and Inter Milan are all said to be part of.

In recent weeks, a two-way battle for the signature of Fernandes reportedly emerged between the two Manchester clubs. However, it is the Red Devils who have assumed the position as favorites to secure the service of the Sporting CP superstar after their huge offer tabled for the midfielder was accepted.

Having aided Portugal to win the maiden edition of the UEFA Nations League title with a 1-0 win over Netherlands on Sunday, Bruno Fernandes is expected to complete his switch to England in the coming days. Speaking after the triumph inside the Estadio do Dragao, the 24-year-old underlined his weariness amid all the rumors while hinting that the apparent agreement with Manchester United was far from close.

"I know nothing, I will take the next few days to understand what is true," Fernandes told Sport Mediaset.

"We know that newspapers sometimes have to make a show to move the market and sell. I'm calm, I'm at a big club. I don't need to move, I'm not trying to leave.

"If the opportunity comes to go to a team that you can't refuse, I'll talk to Sporting."

Asked whether he fancies a move to Inter Milan having previously played in the Serie A for both Udinese and Sampdoria, Fernandes replied: "I had a great time in Italy, I still watch the Italian championship: both Inter and the others, I follow them all.

"I do not know if their interest is true, but Inter are a great team, they have history.

"They have a great coach who has made history with Juventus, he has done well with their national team, but the other teams will strengthen as well."
