Manchester United's chances of signing Jan Oblak has been heavily boosted with the goalkeeper's future at Atletico Madrid reportedly in serious doubt. The 26-year-old shot stopper has been identified by the Red Devils as the successor for David De Gea who is seemingly on his way out.
Having established himself as one of the top goalies in world football at the moment, Oblak once again impressed for Los Rojiblancos in the just ended league season. In 37 outings, the Slovenian goalkeeper registered clean sheet to secure the league's golden glove award.
Nonetheless, Atletico Madrid's second place finish in La Liga coupled with the disappointing Champions League Round of 16 exit has apparently caused Oblak to rethink his future at the club. According to ESPN, the 26-year-old favors a move to the English Premier League this summer - preferably Manchester United after Diego Simeone's side failed to live up to his expectation.
Meanwhile, with David De Gea's future at Manchester United also in serious doubt, the Red Devils are keen on recruiting Oblak to be the Spaniard's successor. Reports that emerged on Monday suggests that the Old Trafford outfit is ready to pay-off the ex-Atletico Madrid No.1 to leave with French Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint Germain said to be keen on his signing.
ESPN further stressed that although Jan Oblak favors a transfer to the Premier League, his purported switch will not come cheap as Solskjaer's side will be required to pay his €120 million buyout clause for any move to materialize.
