Eriksen urges Real Madrid to sign him

Christian Eriksen willing to join Real Madrid after UCL disappointment

June 5, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The Danish midfielder did not hold back when speaking about his future, or lack there of, at Tottenham.

Seems like the debate about who should become Real Madrid's next signing is over.

Speaking to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen came up to state his desire to leave the UEFA Champions League runners-up in favor of what he called a "new challenge". The player has turned down several contract extension offers from the North London side, and after Saturday's clash, the Dane seems to believe that it's time to leave.

"I feel that I'm in a stage of my career in which I'd like to try something new. It would not be a bad thing to stay (at Spurs), I have a wild respect for what Tottenham is doing, but I'd like to try something new. I hope we can have good news on that matter this summer," Eriksen said.

Eriksen has been on top of Florentino Pérez's wishlist for quite some time.

The 27-year-old midfielder did not hold back when asked about a possible move to the Spanish capital, and while at it, he sent the ball to Real Madrid.

"(Joining Real Madrid) Would be a step forward, but for that to happen, Real Madrid must dial Tottenham's number to tell Spurs they want me. As far as I know, that has not happened just yet," Eriksen said.

Despite his initial words, the Danish international did not rule out the possibility of signing a contract extension with Spurs.

"It's up to Daniel Levy (Spurs' president), but there has to be another club. If there isn't, I'll sit down to negociate a contract extension. If I have to leave, it would have to be to a top club. There are not so many better teams than Tottenham right now," Eriksen added.

"Why shouldn't I stay at Tottenham if there are no interesting offers? I would be willing to sign a new deal there, but we have to look at what they have to offer," Eriksen concluded.
