Who is the head coach of Senegal?

Former skipper and midfielder Aliou Cisse is the current head coach of Senegal. The 43-year-old was appointed as the head coach of the Teranga Lions after briefly taking on a caretaker role following the sack of Amara in 2012.

Who are Senegal's star players?

Sadio Mane

Senegal will be heavily reliant on the expertise of Sadio Mane at this summer's tournament. The 27-year-old starred for Liverpool once again this season and was very instrumental for the Reds who narrowly missed out on winning the English Premier League but clinched the UEFA Champions League to cap off a stellar campaign.

With 22 goals, Mane was adjudged the joint recipient of the Premier League Golden Boot alongside teammate Mohamed Salah and Aubameyang. As the skipper of the Teranga Lions, the experienced gathered by the winger at major competitions over the years will prove invaluable to Aliou Cisse's side.

Kalidou Koulibaly

As one of the most-sought after center backs` in European football, the capabilities of Kalidou Koulibaly cannot be understated. Over the years, the 27-year-old defender has risen to prominence for Serie A outfits Napoli and has barely shown any signs of feigning.

Koulibaly heads into the AFCON after being adjudged the Serie A's Best Defender of the 2018/2019 season.

What are Senegal's fixtures at the 2019 AFCON?

Senegal will begin its AFCON journey by taking on Tanzania, followed by an epic clash with Algeria. The Teranga Lions will take on Kenya in their last group game.

What are the odds of Senegal winning the 2019 AFCON?

As one of the top seeds for the tournament, Senegal comes into the 2019 AFCON as a huge favorite. This is backed by the Teranga Lions' wealth of creative, attacking resources and bullish defense capable of keeping teams on the fringes.

On paper, the group stage should be an easy ride for Sadio Mane and his compatriots. That withstanding, the real test lies in the knockout phase where the likes of Egypt, holders Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, and Morocco, among others, will all be in the mix gunning for the trophy.

Should the Teranga Lions pull together when confronted by any of these powerhouses, an inaugural Africa championship title could end up in the bag. That is to say, their strikers will be required to replicate their forms at their respective clubs considering all seven of them; Ismaila Sarr, Keita Balde, Mbaye Niang, Moussa Konate, Mbaye Diagne, Sada Thioub and Sadio Mane, go into the AFCON with a whooping 112 goal accumulation.
