Who is the key player for Canada?

Alphonso Davies:

Although Canada heads into the Gold Cup with a well-balanced team this time around, expectations will still be high for Alphonso Davies to rise above the rest. The terrain is one which is very familiar to the youngster as it was on that very platform that he officially announced himself to the world.

Two years ago, a 16-year-old Davies won the Golden Boot as the top goal scorer at the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup and added the Young Player Award for being the most promising player. The teenager's three goals in four matches, helped Canada to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament for the first time since 2009.

Despite the fact that he has gotten very little first team action since moving to Bayern Munich from the Whitecaps in January, Davies could truly guide the Reds further this time should he hit a purple patch.

What are Canada's fixtures at the Gold Cup?

Canada will begin its Gold Cup campaign against Martinique. The Reds will take on Mexico in their second group game before they face Cuba in the final game.
