Relatively, Netherlands endured a tough campaign to book their spot at the final having began the quest with a 2-1 away defeat to France. Nevertheless, they got back on track by beating Germany 3-0 at home and France 2-0.

The Oranje was dealt a scare in its final game away to Die Mannschaft as it was made to fight and secure a late but all-important 2-2 draw after being 2-0 down.
