In our match preview informing you how to watch Portugal's UEFA Nations League clash with Switzerland, we compare team statistics and analyze their head-to-head record.

What is the form of Portugal compared to Switzerland?

Portugal may be unbeaten since their 2-1 FIFA World Cup round of 16 loss to Uruguay, but their form has taken a dip as of late.  Fernando Santos' men are currently on a four-game drawing run. The Euro 2016 champion was held in their last two UEFA Nations League games, scoring only once against Italy and Poland. Nonetheless, that loss to Uruguay remains their only defeat since March 2018.

As for Switzerland, they have played eight games since bowing out of the 2018 World Cup. The European outfit has failed to win four of those, losing three and drawing once. However, after beating Belgium 5-2 to make the UEFA Nations League finals, Xhaka and Co. should be confident of upsetting their opponent.

Portugal vs Switzerland head-to-head record

Selecção das Quinas head into this tie as the favorites but their record against Switzerland is not impressive. They have locked horns with the Schweizer Nati 22 times and have lost a staggering 10 times.

Games played: 22

Portugal wins: 5

Switzerland wins: 10

Draws: 7

Who's injured/suspended for Portugal vs Switzerland?

Danilo Pereira (suspended) will be missing for the home side, and Breel Embolo (injury) from the away side, but there should not be any other absentees from this game. Xherdan Shaqiri is tipped to feature despite traveling to Madrid for Saturday's Champions League final.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who missed his nation's entire UEFA Nations League campaign, will make his much-awaited return. Having completed the Serie A season, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is now back in the squad and ready to lead his nation once again.

Key talking point - Cristiano to lead Portugal to glory once more?

After lifting the Scudetto, Cristiano will have his eyes on this title. Despite being the first player to win the league title in England, Spain, and Italy; the Portuguese icon will be hungry for more and will be eager to add this trophy to his list of achievements.

Before he can do that, he must captain his country to a win over Switzerlands before facing either England or the Netherlands. Should he do this, he will have a strong claim in the upcoming Ballon d'Or race.

Switzerland should not be underestimated, though. The Schweizer Nati have been an unpredictable package, losing to Qatar on day and beating Belgium the next. Furthermore, Fernando Santos' men have been uninspiring in attack even with their talisman in the lineup. Beating Shaqiri and Co, won't be easy.
