The Catalans were stunned in the cup final by Los Che.

Barcelona fans have demanded that Ernesto Valverde be sacked following Saturday's disappointment in the Copa Del Rey final against Valencia. An indifferent performance ended the Catalans pursuit of a domestic double as Los Che run off with a 2-1 victory inside the Benito Villamarin stadium.

Goals from Kevin Gameiro and Rodrigo handed Marcelino's side a surprise lead in the first half before Lionel Messi grabbed a consolation goal for Barcelona in the second. The win handed Los Che its first title in 11 years while Los Blaugrana missed out on a historic fifth successive cup win.

Although the likes of Semedo, Arthur, Ivan Rakitic, and Philippe Coutinho all failed to turn up in Saturday's game, Barca fans are calling for vindication with the sack of Ernesto Valverde. Prior to kick-off of the final match, multiple reports from Spain suggested that the 55-year-old manager will most likely resign should his side fail to beat Valencia in the Copa Del Rey Final.

Meanwhile, Gerard Pique has jumped to the defense of his head coach after his skipper Lionel Messi did so ahead of the meeting with Valencia. Addressing reporters in a post-match press conference, the Spanish center back said: "We reacted well and could have equalised, but we congratulate Valencia who deserved to win the Copa.

"It is a good year, any year you win La Liga is a good year. But these last weeks we've missed chances to make it a much better year.

"Valverde has done good work, but [whether he continues] does not depend on us.

According to ESPN and Dario Sports' Samuel Marsden, Barcelona president Bartomeu also wants Valverde to see out the remind of his contract and continue as the manager of the side.
