Will Switzerland be able to upset the odds at this summer's UEFA Nations League finals? La Nati have already managed to topple one European giant en route to the finals.

After a strong performance during their maiden UEFA Nations League campaign over the course of this season, Switzerland earned themselves a spot in the final four by seeing off heavyweights Belgium and minnows Iceland. La Nati will be joining hosts Portugal, England, and the Netherlands next month. Will they be able to take down Portugal and book their spot in the finals?

What is Switzerland's squad for the UEFA Nations League finals?

Who are the key players for Switzerland?

Haris Seferović

The Benfica striker was the top marksman during the Nations League tournament with five goals in League A, and he'll be coming into this tournament following a highly successful season with his club. Seferović netted 23 goals for the Eagles in the Primeira Liga this term, which was enough to help him win the top scorer's prize and made him only the second Swiss-born player after Alexander Frei to clinch that personal accolade in a league outside Switzerland.

La Nati will be highly counting on him as they aim to navigate through what will be a tricky test against hosts Portugal before facing the winner of either England or the Netherlands in what will certainly be a very interesting final. Seferović's hat-trick last November was what helped his side come from 2-0 down against Belgium to secure a stunning 5-2 victory to not just top their trio, but qualify for the upcoming finals.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Although he has struggled to nail down a consistent starting spot in Liverpool's starting XI, the former Bayern and Inter man has proven to be a very impactful sub for Jurgen Klopp's side this season. Notably, his brace against Manchester United in November 2018 helped the Reds pick up a victory over their bitter rivals in the Premier League for the first time since March 2014, and he has certainly scored quite a few wonder goals for Switzerland (remember that brilliant effort for La Nati against Poland during the 2016 EURO tournament?)

His pace and dribbling ability will certainly cause defenders quite a lot of worries as fans have seen all season, but he hasn't featured for the national side since March 23rd after suffering an injury in a friendly tie with Georgia. That being said, he was back in action for his club recently, so he should hopefully be available for selection for this upcoming tournament.

What are the odds of Switzerland winning the 2019 UEFA Nations League?

Arguably, Portugal are viewed as the heavy favourites thanks not only to their home advantage but naturally due to the presence of none other than five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks. That being said, Switzerland did have a solid campaign, capped off by their impressive come-from-behind result against tournament favorites Belgium on the final matchday. Given that they earned a 5-2 victory over a team ranked among the top sides in world football, they really should not be underestimated.
