French media identifies reason for Mbappé's speech

Reasons for Mbappé's controversial speech revealed in French media

May 20, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The French star sparked a massive wave of rumors by hinting at a possible exit from PSG, and a report has shed light on the reasons behind his words.

Kylian Mbappé's words regarding a possible exit from PSG echoed hard all around the globe, and French newspaper Le Parisien has shared more light on this subject just over 24 hours after the striker's incendiary speech.

To those of you who are not aware of Mbappé's words, the player said the following as he accepted the Player of the Year Award.

"This is a very important moment for me. I am arriving at the second turning point in my career. I have discovered an enormous amount of things here. It is maybe the moment to have more responsibilities, maybe at PSG, with pleasure, or elsewhere for a new project. In any case thanks everyone," Mbappé stated.

These words were taken as the player's intention to leave the club, which was cause for concern for PSG execs, especially after he had said earlier this year that he would continue playing for the Paris-based club regardless of the offers that came to Nasser Al-Khelaifi's office.

In a report by Le Parisien, the French newspaper revealed that Thomas Tuchel was the one to blame for his words on Sunday. According to the media outlet, Mbappé is mad at the German boss for "killing" his chances of "stealing" the Golden Boot away from Lionel Messi by benching him against Strasbourg and Nantes. Now, Mbappé needs four goals to tie Messi at the top of that ranking with only one game left.

Added to that, Le Parisien states that Mbappé's relationship with his boss, while respectful, is nowhere near the one shared by Neymar and the German tactician. The 2018 World Cup champion with France would like Tuchel to treat him in similar terms as he does with Neymar.

Even if PSG has stated that there will be no negotiations whatsoever to see Kylian Mbappé leave the club, the player's statement hints that it's not all sunshine and rainbows between Les Parisiens' brightest stars.
