PSG ends Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer rumors

PSG ends Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer speculation with statement

May 20, 2019 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The French outfit rebuffed claims that the striker could be on his way out.

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain has stated that Kylian Mbappe will not be sold this summer amid transfer speculations. This comes on the back of the French star's recent comments which hinted at a potential departure in the coming months.

On Sunday, the 20-year-old striker made history as he became the first player to win the Ligue 1 Player of The Year and Young Player of The Year following a stellar season with PSG. With a game left to play in the league, the World Cup winner has scored 32 goals and registered seven assists in 28 appearances.

In his acceptance speech for his award, Mbappe stated that he had arrived at a "turning point" in his career and was eager to receive "more responsibilities" at PSG or turn elsewhere to begin a new chapter.

Recent speculations have revealed that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is keen on recruiting the forward as his side aims to rebuild this summer. France Football previously reported that Los Blancos is ready to enter negotiations with PSG for a potential €280 million (£246 million) deal.

However, on Monday, the French champions released a statement on Twitter to debunk any claims of an impending transfer for Mbappe.

"Very strong ties have united Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe for two years and this story will continue together also next season," the statement read.

"With the shared ambition to write the history of European football, in the year of the 50th anniversary of PSG, a long awaited moment to write together a big page in the history of our club and in which everyone will have to do his part, always giving value to the collective."

Kylian Mbappe is reportedly in line to sign a new lucrative deal with his current contract ending in 2023.
