The game had to be postponed due to an environmental emergency that took place in Mexico City, where local authorities were too slow to determine the necessary measures to look after the players' and fans' health. This slow reaction was followed by Liga MX's lack of alternatives to have the game played in Mexico City, which forced the league to stage the game in the nearby city of Querétaro.

In the meantime, León was already traveling to Mexico City, when they found out that they would need to make new arrangements elsewhere. Footage of León's players waiting at a gas station for their fate to be solved made Liga MX look like a bad joke.
