The Argentine ace shared his views on who should win the coveted annual award, but he chose to 'kill' his friend's chances of adding one more to his cabinet.

Sergio Aguero may be a good friend of Messi, but he doesn't believe that his pal deserves to perform a clean sweep when the individual awards are handed out later this year.

Aguero, who was key to Manchester City's title-clinching win against Brighton on Sunday, spoke about the Ballon D'Or race. In that interview, the former Atlético footballer took a swipe against Messi, hinting that "La Pulga" should not be considered for the award for a fourth straight year. Why? Because whoever wins the UEFA Champions League should have one of their players winning the award, according to Aguero.

"I believe that, no matter who wins, the Ballon D'Or should go to a player involved in the UEFA Champions League final,"Aguero stated.

Lionel Messi is seen by many as the best option to replace Luka Modric as the winner of the coveted award, but if things go Aguero's way, players such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Christian Eriksen or Virgil Van Dijk should opt to win it.

The awards' ceremony is set to take place in December.
