Fiorentina have lost their last three games, and overall, have gone 11 matches sans a win. They were dumped out of the Coppa Italia after losing to Atalanta and recently ended up losing in the Tuscan derby against relegation-threatened Empoli. This series of bad results has seen the Viola slide all the way down to a dismal 13th in the standings. Although they are in no danger of relegation, they have no chance of qualifying for Europe, either, and that's a very disappointing result for a team who had high hopes at the start of this season.
That being said, Fiorentina will be desperate to avoid upsetting their home support even more and will be keen on trying to pick up a good result against visiting side AC Milan. The Rossoneri themselves have had their fair share of problems this term as Gennaro Gattuso goes head-to-head against none other than Vincenzo Montella, the man he replaced on the tactician's bench at Milan back in November 2017. Ironically, it was Montella who helped Milan win their last trophy - the Supercoppa Italiana in 2016 - but that was not enough to save his position, and now back in charge for a second spell at the Viola he will certainly be looking to throw a monkey wrench in the Diavolo's quest to try to salvage a top four spot.
Atalanta have managed to catch up and overtake Milan due to the latter's bad showings as of late, and with La Dea on a kick lately, it's that much more vital that the Rossoneri take advantage of Fiorentina's awful form and come back home with all three points in hand. Will they be able to get to job done?
