The Blues will now take their fight to the CAS as they aim to overturn this transfer embargo.

Chelsea has seen their appeal against their two-window transfer ban rejected by FIFA. This means the Blues will have to now take their fight to CAS in a bid to overturn that ruling.

The London giant had been smacked with a transfer embargo by the world's governing body back in February. This sanction was set to take effect this summer and would have prevented the Premier League side from signing players until June 2020.

However, the Europa League semi-finalist will now take their battle to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. That means the ban will likely be frozen until a final verdict from the CAS comes.

This will afford Chelsea the opportunity to sign players this summer, similar to what happened with Barcelona back in 2014. With Eden Hazard tipped to leave the club this summer, Sarri could rebuild his squad should the sanction be upheld for a second time.

There has been one alteration to Chelsea's initial embargo. The club will be allowed to register players under the age of 16 as long as they act in accordance with FIFA regulations.

The English giant was punished for the breaching rules regarding the signings of under-aged players. They were charged with 92 breaches before being found guilty of 29 in regard to article 19.
