A poor run of form has seen Milan slip out of the Champions League places, and with the Rossoneri out of the Europa League and the Coppa Italia, they have no back way back into that competition. They sit six points behind Atalanta, who have suddenly surged to life and have snatched fourth spot, and with a game in hand, they are not out of it yet, but will need to turn things around - and even that may not be enough to get back into the top four.
Bologna, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their last four games, with wins in three of them. This has helped the Rossoblu steer themselves clear of the drop zone, and with just a few games to go they are now safe for the rest of the season. They will be looking to end their bad run against Milan - which has seen them win just one of their last 18 meetings - and given Milan's poor form lately, this could be a good time for the visitors to grab at least a point.
