La Liga Roundup after 35 games

La Liga Roundup - Four reasons why Barça's title will go down in history

April 29, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
Los Blaugranas secured their second league title in a row and confirmed their dominance in the Spanish top flight.

As expected, the La Liga title race has come to an end. Barcelona lifted their eighth title in the last eleven seasons, and their dominance in the 21st Century can't be questioned.

Even if it sounds as lazy writing, the main reason for Barcelona's dominance is none other than Lionel Messi. The Argentine stepped in from the bench to solve the crucial tie against Levante, with a classic left-footed shot solving the ordeal for Valverde's men. That, in itself, represented yet another record for the Argentine ace in a day that will surely be remembered by Blaugrana fans.

The South American footballer has re-written football's record books time and time again, and the next statistic will surely live until the end of times, since no player has been as dominant as "La Pulga" has been.

This fact was confirmed by the team itself as soon as celebrations kicked off.

But even if he's managed to win a massive amount of titles with Los Culés, this league title will surely have a special meaning for the top scorer in Barcelona's history.

There's one more player in Barcelona's squad that was able to make history, since he's made his mark on different European leagues. To make his feat more impressive, all of his league titles have come in consecutive fashion. Who? Arturo Vidal.

La Liga standings after Matchday 35

Atlético Madrid practically sealed their second place following their 1-0 win. On Sunday, Real Madrid ended a 22-year streak without a loss against Rayo Vallecano, which will most likely force Zidane's men to end the season 18 points away from Barcelona...that is if they don't lose any more games.
