Will Les Bleues be able to match the success of their male counterparts and win the World Cup this summer?

What is France's history in the FIFA Women's World Cup?

Unlike some of the other teams participating - namely the United States and Sweden, for instance - France are relative newcomers to the FIFA Women's World Cup. Les Bleues only made their Women's World Cup debut at the 2003 edition in the U.S., where they failed to get out of the group stage. They were unable to attend the tournament four years later, but returned in 2011 where they impressed in Germany by securing a fourth-placed finish.

While they couldn't replicate this same feat at Canada 2015 as their journey ended in the quarter-finals, expectations and hopes are high for the French to impress this summer on home soil as they aim to lift the title in front of what will certainly be an enthusiastic home crowd.

What is France's group at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup?

What is France's full squad list for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup?

This is France's 23-woman squad for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup:

The notable absentee is starlet Marie-Antoinette Katoto who is PSG and D1 Feminine's top scorer. She was omitted by coach Corinne Diacre for "attitude problems".

Who are the key players to watch for France at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup?

Lyon's Eugénie Le Sommer is certainly one to watch out for this summer. With 74 goals, the team's current vice captain is only second behind Marinette Pichon in terms of goals scored and is currently the all-time active top scorer for her country in Women's Football.

Who is France's coach?

Former defender Corinne Diacre has been in charge of the national side since August 2017. As a player, she represented Les Bleues at one Women's World Cup and three European Championships, making her the third-most capped player in the French women's national team's history (121 caps).

Notably, in 2014, she became the first woman to coach a professional men's side during a competitive match when she was appointed as the manager of second-tier Clermont Foot where she served on the tactician's bench until 2017.
