The two English giants go head-to-head in a crucial encounter on Wednesday for respective reasons.

Knowing the magnitude of the upcoming Manchester derby, one would expect fans to go out of line to intimidate the stars of the respective clubs in a bid to boost their side's chances. However, that has not been far from the case for City's Kyle Walker.

With his team locked in a fierce battle with Liverpool for the Premier League title, the 26-year-old English full-back has revealed that some fans of Manchester United have expressed their desire to see his side win the league rather than Liverpool. That is to say, they will be glad to see Solskjaer and his men drop points at Old Trafford on Wednesday although they risk missing out on a top-four finish.

"United fans are in a difficult situation obviously," Walker was quoted to have said as per UK tabloid Mirror.

"When I'm out and about or walking my dogs, United fans are coming up to me saying 'we'd rather City win the league than Liverpool'.

"It's strange to hear but I can assure you the United players aren't going to leave a red carpet and say 'go on City, score past us'.

"They're going to make it difficult because it's a game of football and they're fighting for the top four as well so they need the points."

With Chelsea drawing at home to Burnley on Monday, a win at Old Trafford for Manchester United will take them level on points with the Blues. Sarri's men sit in the fourth position with 67 points and trails third-placed Tottenham Hotspur who have the same points but a superior goal difference.
