The winner will succeed Mohamed Salah, who won the award in the 2017-18 campaign.

Mohamed Salah may not be around to claim the PFA Player of the year award this season, but the title could very well hand the trophy over to one of his team-mates.

Earlier today, the nominees for the 2018-19 Player of the year award were revealed, with two Liverpool players included in that shortlist. Three Manchester City footballer were also included, while Eden Hazard is the only Chelsea player to be handed a nod.

Liverpool aces Virgil Van Dijk and Sadio Mane had their massive years recognized by the panel of experts with these nods. Some even think that the Dutch defender is the favorite to claim the prize.

But what seems to be another chapter of the rivalry between Manchester City and Liverpool, three Citizens' players will be stiff competition to the Reds' duo in the hunt for this award. Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva are Pep Guardiola's pupils that will opt for this award. Out of this trio, experts believe that Sterling is the frontunner for the award.

Last, but not least, Eden Hazard's well-deserved nod completes the nominations. Real Madrid's transfer target could put an end to his run in the Premier League by winning this award, since his transfer to Los Blancos seems to be a lock. Hazard has scored 16 goals and handed out 12 assists in 33 Premier League games this season.
