Manchester United pair Ashley Young and David De Gea were subjected to heavy criticism on the internet in Tuesday's UEFA Champions League quarter final clash between Barcelona and Manchester Unted. The duo have been identified as the guilty parties for the brace scored by Lionel Messi in the opening 20 minutes of the encounter inside Camp Nou.
The agitation of fans initially surfaced after the Argentine forward capitalized on an error by Young to hand the hosts the lead in the 16th minute. The Englishman lost possession in his side's half and the Bluagrana No.10 pounced on the loose ball, tricked his way past two Manchester United players and sealed the move with a low and curling finish.
Four minutes later, Messi doubled his side's lead following an error on the part on the Red Devil's David De Gea. The Spanish shotstopper failed to stop a tame right-footer effort by the 30-year-old as the ball squirm right under him and crossed the goal line.
Manchester United's David de Gea is usually one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Below is how fans reacted to the roles played by both Young and De Gea in the build up to Barcelona's double in the first half:

Ashley Young on the ball makes me feel uncomfortable. Just look at the number of chances he had to get out of that corner. So frustrating. pic.twitter.com/slJ1L0YOCT

Ashley Young at fault for the goal. I feel like this is a weird strain of de ja vu that we just tweet every match day now. But we're the fans, we know nothing!

We were in good rhythm

Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Ashley Young and co: they won't bring back the glory days to Old Trafford...

If that De Gea mistake was a one-off, then it could be dismissed as just that. But it's not even his first this month. May have been the world's best, but he's nowhere near that right now.

I love DeGea more than any other player in that United squad but he hasn't been himself in the past few months. Too many uncharacteristic errors. It could be a dip in form or related to contract situation. Either way, need him to snap out of it ASAP.
