This was certainly coming, wasn't it?

A lot has ensued in the buildup to Liverpool's epic Premier League clash with Chelsea and, ahead of Sunday's meeting, a meme that emerged arguably carried the day when it came to ranking the matchday hype material. Prior to the release of the starting lineups of the respective clubs, images of the Blues' first eleven emerged across the internet and were immediately met with an uproar for a particular name it contained.

It was that of no other than former Newcastle and Chelsea striker Demba Ba! Evidently, the Senegalese attacker's name does not bring fond memories for the Liverpool faithful for the role he played in that infamous Steven Gerrard slip which supposedly cost the Reds their first-ever Premier League title back in 2014.

Taking a stroll five years back down the memory lane, the Merseyside outfit was on course to finish atop the league with just three games left to play. On April 27, 2014, the Reds welcomed Jose Mourinho's Chelsea to Anfield to feature in an encounter which very much determined the fate of the table.

Fast-forwarding, then-captain of Liverpool Steven Gerrard slipped to allow Demba Ba through on goal and the striker unerringly slotted home to hand Chelsea the lead. Willian then sealed the win with a breakaway goal in stoppage time.

The title subsequently slipped out of the hands of Liverpool as Manchester City went on to finish two points ahead of the Reds.

With the script almost the same, many fear a deja vu taking place on Sunday and fans are already reminding Liverpool of the ill-fate by taunting them with the imagery of Demba Ba.
