How they got here: Benfica vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Benfica ended up in the Europa League after finishing third in their quartet behind Bayern Munich and this season's surprise packages, Ajax. However, the Portuguese side have adjusted well to life in European club football's second-tier competition. The Eagles first saw off Turkish side Galatasaray thanks to a 2-1 away victory, which was enough to give them a spot in the round of 16 despite failing to score in a draw on home turf. Next, they recovered well after a 1-0 loss to Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb by beating their opponents 3-0 - two goals coming in extra time - to set up a quarter-finals clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, who many view as a serious dark horse so far in this season's Europa League.

Eintracht Frankfurt are no strangers to pulling off upsets. Last season, under the guidance of Niko Kovac, they beat Bayern Munich in the DFB-Pokal, thus getting a spot in this year's Europa League tournament, and Adi Hutter's men have been in dominant form since the group stages. They topped their quartet with a perfect six wins out of six, well ahead of sides like Lazio and Marseille, and easily brushed aside Eastern European outfit Shakhtar 6-3 on aggregate to book their spot in the round of 16.

Inter presented a much tougher opponent, but in-form striker Luka Jovic's solitary goal at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza was enough to decide the tie and now the Serbian international will hope to cause some major problems for Benfica - who, ironically, is his parent club as he's on loan from them to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Current form: Benfica vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Benfica come into this game having recently being eliminated from the Taca de Portugal by arch-rivals Sporting CP, but they rebounded from that disappointment by thrashing Feirense 4-1 on the road last weekend. The Eagles are locked in a neck-to-neck battle with Porto for the Primeira Liga title at the moment and will hope that their strong home form, which has seen them go eight games sans defeat across all competitions, will be enough to help them gain an advantage over tricky opponents Eintracht Frankfurt.

Why could Frankfurt represent a banana peel? Because the German sides are no slouches themselves? They have not only won their last six Bundesliga games, but are unbeaten so far in 2019 (which is a whopping 15 games across all competitions). Additionally, they have not lost an away game since before the Christmas break and have managed to keep clean sheets in four of their last six most recent fixtures in their travels. That includes shutting out the Nerazzurri during their narrow 1-0 win in the second leg of their round of 16 tie. Presently, Hutter's side sit in a very impressive fourth spot in the Bundesliga, which is a massive improvement on their eighth-placed finish from last term.
