The English striker left the pitch after a late tackle by Fabian Delph that went unpunished by the referee.

Tuesday's UEFA Champions League game between Tottenham and Manchester City gave Spurs' fans plenty to talk about, but not all of it will be good news.

Stellar striker Harry Kane left the pitch after 50 minutes of playing time due to a nasty tackle by Fabian Delph. While the substitution could be part of the plan, Kane's gestures limping away from the pitch sparked the worst fears among Spurs' fans. Those fears were all but confirmed by coach Mauricio Pochettino in the post-match presser.

Delph's challenge made fans cringe, and Pochettino was not happy after it happened.

While it is yet too early to find out the nature of a potential injury, Pochettino practically dismissed all chances to have his best player on the pitch for the return leg of this UCL tie.

"If you see the action, it shows he twisted his ankle and maybe damaged the ligaments again. We will check in the next few days. It is so painful, but what can we do? We hope it's not a big issue and he can recover as soon as possible, but it doesn't look good. I am worried he will miss the rest of the season," Pochettino said.

Kane's health issues kept him on the sidelines since the beginning of 2019. In fact, the injury he picked up today is quite similar to the one that kept him out since January.

Later, Kane's picture leaving the stadium on crutches confirmed all fears about his ankle.
