The Spanish manager has told his players what to do as they chase a historic quadruple.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has asked his players to forget about winning the quadruple this season. The 48-year-old Spanish manager's side is on course to make history by winning titles four different competitions and the team's top form in the ongoing campaign has heightened the probability of the feat being achieved.

City has already won its first trophy of the season as it successfully saw off Chelsea in this season's League Cup final via a 4-3 shootout win to defend the title back to back. With that in the bag, the current Premier League title holders are actively battling with Liverpool atop the chart to defend last season's feat. A win over Cardiff on Wednesday can fire them into the lead with a point more than Jurgen Klopp's side with six more games left to play.

Also, the men in blue are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup as well as the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. They will play against Brighton and Tottenham Hotspur respectively in a bid to progress further.

"I said many times, ask me at the end of April," Guardiola declared ahead of the midweek home encounter with Cardiff City

"Why talk about the quadruple when in this country - a legendary country - it has never happened before.

"Legendary teams like Liverpool, the period [of Manchester United] with Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, Arsene Wenger with Arsenal - no one did it. So why should we do it?

"I'm not in the minds of my players and the fans to tell them what to think," he added.

"If they want to dream and think about winning everything, I'm not a guy to say anything.

"Of course we are there but I said to the players, 'Forget about it, don't think too much. In one week or three days, we can lose all three titles, that's the reality'.

"'I know in your heads we can win all the titles, but for now it's Cardiff."

"The squad is very strong mentally and they have learned not to think so much about the titles but only what is next. If we keep winning then the trophies will come. We need to be like a machine."
