The Englishman has been on Barcelona's radar but he now looks destined to remain at Old Trafford.

The issue of Marcus Rashford's future at Man United has been one of two worrying issues for the Red Devils, the other being Paul Pogba.

However, the Englishman now appears destined to stay. Despite the heavy interest in the Three Lions ace, his Premier League side has made strides towards tying him down with a new deal.

According to the Daily Mail, Man United has made good progress in their negotiations with the 21-year-old. As a result, they are hopeful he will sign a new five-year contract that would see him more than double his wages.

His current deal expires next summer and while the Manchester giant has the option to extend for another 12 months, the club desired to extend his stay. Rumored interest from Barcelona has had many worried but the player appears ready to commit and pocket roughly $196,000 per week, which would put him only behind Alexis, Pogba, Lukaku, and De Gea.

The decision to appoint Solskjaer as the permanent boss will work in the club's favor in regards to Rashford. The Englishman has thrived under the Norwegian, scoring eight in 18 games under Mourinho's successor.

Doubts linger over Pogba's future as the Frenchman continues to be linked with Real Madrid. Furthermore, negotiations with De Gea, Herrera, and Mata have hit roadblocks as the club and players have failed to reach a middle ground on pay raises.
